Zion National Park

 

Mt.Zion National Park is the most beautiful "red rocks park" by far.

Lake Meade and Hoover Dam

 

Arrived in Las Vegas today. Very crowded, heavy traffic. Watched some fire works from campground on the fourth. Took a day trip to Lake Meade in Boulder City  for a boat ride around the lake. Got to see the Hoover Dam from the boat. Nothing special about Vegas.

Grand Canyon North Rim

 

Now this was scary. I had to go out on this ledge it was blowing about 20 mph and gusty. I got a friend to take this shot. Clare was back at the lodge.

 This was a great day. The North Rim is a lot different then the South rim.  The drive to the North Rim is through a forest of trees and valleys opposed to the South rim approach of flat land and desert. It took us about 1 1/4 hr drive from our camp site to get there. Our group walked two different trails. It was quite challenging. I was surprised how few people were there. The trails were a little crowded because of their narrow paths. It was quite a walk. Durango to Silverton Train Ride

We took a train ride from Durango Colorado to Silverton. Last photo is from Silverton. We took a bus ride from Durango to Silverton. Walked through the town and had lunch. Took the train back to Durango. It was a great trip. The train ride took longer than we thought it was going to. It was an all day excuison.                                           

Drive thru Moab Utah

                We drove the car on Hwy 128 thru Castle Canyon. Stopped at Red Cliff's Lodge for lunch. They also had a winery which we checked out. After quite a few samples we decided we did not like the wine that much, so we went on our way.

Well we got our "Rocky Mountain High" in a really big way!!! We were up in the snow line and it was beautiful and exhilarating. A fresh snow had fallen the day before, so we had snow right beside the road, but luckily not ON the road...that would have been a no-no. We went through six tunnels while going through the mountains. Going up some of the mountain climbs I had the motorhome in 2nd gear at 4200 rmps and could only go 35mph

Seven Falls

Today we went to Garden of The Gods, it is a drive thru and hiking park. Plenty of trails to walk. Lots of beautiful rock formations and cliffs. Beautiful mountains all around us. In the afternoon we visited Old Town Colorado, very clean up scale historic old city. We also visited Seven Falls. You can walk up 244 steps to the top or take elevator to the top. You know what way we went. Another very scenic area.
