Trip to Reneageds on The River

Four couples from NSB took a three day camping trip to Renegades on The River in Welaka Fl. This is a fairly new RV Resort, it has spacious sites that all have pavers to park on. All sites are level. They have a nice Tiki Bar and restaurant along with pontoon boat rentals.

We decided to play a game called corn hole during Happy Hour, what a blast. Here are Jody and Sally playing.

On one day we rented a pontoon boat for a half day trip. We just cruised around the ST. Johns River exploring.



This Alligator was hanging up in the store. It was caught on the St. Johns River and was 13' 3". Of course they had it mounted.

We all had a very good time. This is a very nice RV park. There is not a whole lot to do in the area so be ready to entertain yourselves . Thank you to Jody & David, Dave & Cindy, Randy & Sally.

Tidal Bore Truro N.S., Canada

What is a Tidal Bore. Well at most places along the ocean shores, high tides occur regularly every 12 hours, 25 minutes. In the open ocean the tide only rises and falls a fraction of a meter. However, in most V-shape bays and inlets the tide enters the broad end and the water literally "PILES UP" as it moves up the bay. At the very head of the bay this advancing tide becomes a wave varying from just a ripple to several feet in height and this wave continues in and up the rivers which empty into the bay. This wave is referred to as the "TIDAL Bore". You can see this wave coming in around the corner in the photos. Water keeps coming in until tide is high.

Peggy's Cove and Lighthouse

According to legend, Peggy's Cove was named after the only survivor of a schooner that ran aground and sank in 1800.... a women named Margaret. Local folk called her " Peggy " and her home came to be known as Peggy's Cove. The original lighthouse was built in 1868. Scottish bagpiper playing for the tourist.

Swissair Flight 111

On the way to Peggy's Cove, N.S., we stopped by the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial. Peggy's Cove and Blandford , N.S. were central to the recovery operations following the crash on Sept. 2, 1998

Lunenburg, N.S.

Here we are in Old Town Lunenburg, Nova Scotia down on the South Shore. This is a very nice town and harbor to walk around and explore. We had lunch at the Old Fish Factory and then drove across the harbor to get a better view of the town.

Entry Road

So when you turn off the highway going down this road to campground (you hope) for 3/4 of a mile on single land road with a river on one side with a good 4 knot current. When should you get nervous ???? Well of course we made it. These are just a couple of shots of the road. We did not meet anyone on the road and are hoping to have same luck on the way out. Towing the car we can not back up !!!

Lobster boat and catch

So after the Light House we headed about 10 miles down the road to visit Ballantyne's Cove Tuna Interpretive Center to learn about the life of the Bluefin tuna and the Bluefin Tuna Catch and release Boat Tours. Guess what. They hadn't open for the season yet. We walked around the wharf looking at the boats. We noticed this green Lobster boat coming in, so we drove over and watched them unload their catch and talked with them for awhile. They were the ones we saw from the light house. They brought in 191 lbs. of lobster. The large one weighed 6 lbs. Then we walked down to this beach area an looked for some sea glass and drift wood. We only found some small drift wood pieces. While at the wharf (where they unloaded the catch of lobsters) we visited with a young couple (they were the two who were weighing and packing the lobsters from the boats, to take to the Lobster pound)they were so interesting. Very Scottish, red hair, blue eyes, Scottish accent, a little hard to understand. We swapped stories about the difference between our Lobsters and their Lobsters.
